and Transfers
Please read the policy that applies to your test type. Requests to cancel or postpone your IELTS test must be made in writing ONLY. Email requests to: info@ilacielts.com
Paper-based Test Policy
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation more than 5 weeks before the test date – test taker will receive a full refund less $80.00 administrative fee.
Cancellation less than 5 weeks before the test date – test taker will receive NO refund.
Test takers seeking cancellation within the 5 weeks before the test will only receive a refund if they can provide evidence that their ability to sit the test has been affected by serious cause such as:
- Serious illness – hospital admission or serious injury
- Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
- Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of traffic accident
- Military service
- Passport/ID issues and delays – passport renewal, visa applications
The approved refund will be subject to the administrative fee.
Please note, there is NO refund if you:
- Arrive late or less than 15 minutes before the start of your test
- Arrive without the required ID
- Are absent without reasonable cause (see list above) – this counts as a cancellation, and you will NOT receive a refund. In this case, you must re-apply.
You must read your confirmation email carefully to check what time to arrive for your test.
IMPORTANT: If you display symptoms of COVID-19 or flu before your test, do NOT attend your test and contact info@ilacielts.com for a resolution. Anyone displaying or reporting symptoms on arrival will be denied entry and asked to contact the office.
Transfer Policy
Transfer requests received more than 5 weeks before the test date – test taker will be charged an $80 administrative fee.
Transfer requests received less than 5 weeks before the test date – transfers will be treated as a cancellation (test taker will receive NO refund and must re-apply)
Transfer dates will depend on availability.
Test takers seeking a transfer within the 5 weeks before the test will only receive a transfer if they can provide evidence that their ability to sit the test has been affected by serious cause such as:
- Serious illness – hospital admission or serious injury
- Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
- Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of traffic accident
- Military service
- Passport/ID issues and delays – passport renewal, visa applications

Test takers must complete a “Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form” no later than five (5) days after the paper-based test date and attach supporting evidence – for example, a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death certificate, a police report or a government letter.
